B2B website for Optimal Payments's new payment card services division

Optimal Payments, a leading global online payments provider, approached Fifth Dimension to deliver their new standalone website – optimalcardservices.com – specifically dedicated to their newly-launched payment card services division.

Optimal Payments Card Services offers a one-stop solution for fully-customisable prepaid card issuing and required a website that both clearly defines their offering and allows clients to design and order their own bespoke prepaid MasterCard programme online.

Our approach began by clearly defining Card Services’ benefits and features before breaking them down into discrete easily communicable elements that spoke equally validly to the layman and the payments expert.

Many companies in the payments industry appear to throw information at their B2B web pages in no particular order – and with little consideration to the requirements of the end user – leaving the reader to wallow in acronyms, technical and regulatory terminology and non-contextualised data. With this in mind, it was our goal to keep the amount of copy to a bare minimum, instead using graphics, imagery and video to tell the right story in the right place – but without losing meaning or detail.

To increase engagement further, during the entire design and build of the Card Services website, we ensured that it was mobile optimised, working as well – and looking as good – on a smartphone or a tablet as it does on a desktop PC.

We designed and built the website’s “Build Your Card” facility to provide quick and easy selection of card programme features and functions, allowing a client to determine a complete prepaid card programme cost in less than two minutes – and then proceed to place the order. We made sure that our interface design for this feature was as clear and usable as possible, using the form elements themselves – and their labelling and ordering – to make the process simple and fast, without the need for lengthy explanations, hints and instructions. This facility is unique to the industry.
